Windows of Engagement

A window interfaces two realms. Negotiating what a wall segregates, It structures the language with which we apprehend the world and by extension, relate to each other.

However, while interfacing two domains, a window has us positioned on either side of its divide. Our vantage point is one of either looking in or looking out.

The windows in this series do not look out on an outer scene. They confront a viewer’s probing gaze with the partial display of an ultimately unknowable interior.

The vantage point is out on the street, against its forest of signs on which appear these windows like sudden clearings, revealing as they conceal, akin to the workings of our mind.
